Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon

Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon

Welcome to Lyon!

The CNSMD de Lyon embodies an intuition and a project that has been constantly renewed for 40 years. The utopia of its founders – to imagine the Conservatoire as a dual space of excellence and innovation – was aided by the deep commitment of its teaching, technical and administrative staff, a commitment that remains unchanged today. Together, they were to contribute to the emergence of a rich new variety of dancers and musicians.
The move to Quai Chauveau by Gilbert Amy, whose actions quickly gave the Conservatoire its national and international reputation, and the pugnacity of his successors, lead us today to continue affirming the unique position of the CNSMD de Lyon.

The CNSMD’s mission statement is, and remains, a commitment to the transmission and expression of the arts, with an eye to the crossroads of the arts and an open attitude to the world.
Our activities, both on and off the premises, are a sign of the renewed confidence of our partners, who host almost half of our activities, but also mark the arrival of new gateways.

At the heart of all this are our students, artists and researchers, who are free to follow their own paths, sharing their knowledge with a wide range of audiences through a host of concerts, performances, graduation recitals and increasingly fruitful mediation initiatives.
